Cats About Town Society’s Low Cost Prescription Pet Meds

We are offering this program to friends and family of C.A.T.S. The purpose is two-fold: you save money on pet meds and C.A.T.S. makes money that we put to use to help cats in our care. Your support helps save cats and kittens.

See pricing details below. To place an order, simply email medical@catsabouttown.org with your request and schedule a date to pick up your meds at a location in Natomas. If you prefer to have them shipped, we can do that for a small S&H fee.

• Have a pet that is on a long-term medicine? (i.e. – Rimadyl for arthritis, Methimazole for thyroid problems, other meds)
• We may be able to save you a significant amount of money on these drugs. Contact us via email (medical@town-cats.org) for a price quote.
• We will need a prescription to fill these orders.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently we can accept cash and checks. We can accept credit card payments through PayPal. However, there is a PayPal service fee that you will also need to pay if you choose this option.

How do C.A.T.S. prices compare to Vet Pricing and Online / Discount Pricing?

Typically our prices are about half of what you will pay at your veterinarian and about 20% off what you can find at an online / discount pet meds website.

How is C.A.T.S. able to offer these great prices?

Several factors enable us to offer such low pricing:

• We have access to wholesale prices. In some instances and with some drug manufacturers, we have access to shelter medicine pricing.
• We don’t have to pay for shipping because products are only available for pick up at a location in Natomas.
• We order in bulk (often minimum orders of $1,000 or more).

Is this program and pricing available to anyone?

No. This program is only being offered to those who have adopted from C.A.T.S., fostered for C.A.T.S., or volunteered for C.A.T.S. We appreciate your support and realize that you may have numerous pets in your household and that the cost of flea prevention and medicines can really add up. We wanted to offer our friends a viable, low-cost option for pet meds AND an easy way to support C.A.T.S. financially.

How do I get a prescription?

If you are ordering a medicine that requires a prescription, you’ll need to get a prescription from your vet. Tell your vet that you’ve found a lower price on the meds elsewhere; if they ask where, please use 1-800-petmeds to quote prices to your vet. Sometimes vets will offer to match prices, and if so, feel free to go ahead and get the meds from your vet if they are offering you a good deal. If they’re not, or if you’d rather have your money go to C.A.T.S., just ask for the prescription without telling them about this program. The bottom line is that we don’t want to upset your local vet. We don’t see ourselves as competitors to vets; simply an option, but some vets might see things differently. You know your vet so use your best judgment with this program. Please do not quote our prices. We would like to continue providing this option to our friends and family and do not want to a) upset vets nor b) have an upset vet complain to the point of shutting down our program.

Does C.A.T.S. make money on these products?

Yes, we do. We make $5 on every product. While we save you money, we also make money for C.A.T.S. Since we are a non-profit, we take that money and put it toward the cost of vet bills and medicines for cats under our care. You save money and you help support our foster, spay & neuter and adoption programs. Thank you!

What is the Shipping & Handling Fee?

This varies based upon how much you order. Shipping is exactly our cost to mail it to you via USPS. There is a $1 handling fee on top of that to cover gas to the post office, packaging, etc. We will not make money on shipping & handling.
