Happy New Year! What a wild ride it has been for us all!

It has been an unusual year for us all at C.A.T.S., as you can imagine. When the state went into lockdown, we had to think creatively in order to protect our volunteers/adopters while also continuing to find homes for our kitties. We have modified our adoption procedures utilizing appointments, limited adoption center set ups, and maintaining social distancing so as to avoid crowding. We closed down completely during the most recent stay-at-home order and are so grateful to our fabulous foster families for so patiently working with us to continue to provide our kitties a loving and safe home. Now that the order has been lifted, we will once again resume our modified adoptions and will be making appointments via our Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/catsabouttown ) and C.A.T.S. hotline (916-224-1117). Unfortunately, the cats did not get stay-at-home memo and have continued to reproduce. Hah!

In other news, Suna and Andrea embarked on a new adventure at the end of 2019 with the purchase of Pat’s Boarding Place for Cats. This cats-only kennel is a home away from home for its feline guests and is nestled in a quiet location just a few miles from the Natomas Petsmart. As the world begins to open up in the near future, if you or anyone that you know is looking for a boarding facility that treats your kitty like one of their own, please think of us! If you would like more information, please visit our website (www.patsplaceforcats.com) and enjoy the guided tour led by our manager, Elaine. A portion of the profits are donated to C.A.T.S.!

As usual, we are so grateful to our wonderful supporters and we wanted to reach out to let you know that C.A.T.S. is still here, spaying and neutering, adopting and rescuing as much as possible during this very uncertain time. One easy way to continue to support our rescue is by choosing Cats About Town Society as the recipient with any Amazon Smile order (easy instructions here). With so many people making purchases online, this is a simple way to give back!

Another great way to help C.A.T.S…. Set up a fundraiser on your Facebook Page (Start a Post on your FB page. Scroll down to “Support Nonprofit”). If 100 Friends of C.A.T.S. raise $100 each on their Facebook page, that will mean $10,000 to help C.A.T.S. That would be amazing!!  Normally we raise funds via our Cinco de Meow annual fundraiser. For 2 years now, this fundraiser has been cancelled. And since we have no paid employees (we are 100% volunteer-run), that means that we don’t qualify for a PPP loan. If you could please post a fundraiser, you would be helping us continue to save cats and kittens! Thank you.

We look forward to returning to normalcy in the near future. We cannot wait to see you soon!
